What they really mean is something more like, “My idea about you is currently aligned with the ideal I hold in my mind about how a person should be.” This may sound all well and good, but the issues are that a) you are not an idea, and b) your idea about yourself is often very different from other people’s ideas about you. We find ourselves in a situation, then, in which any number of different ideas about people are always conflicting with each other, as well as the underlying physical reality, and this tumultuous juxtaposition of dreams is the primary cause of most of our problems.
